About: |
For most of Tamara’s adult life she has worked and played in rivers. A Geomorphologist by profession (river scientist) and an avid whitewater kayaker she has spent a great deal of her life messing around with mud. So, it came as no surprise that in retirement Tamara would take up throwing clay. Well familiar with New Mexico's landscapes, she is a wealth of information about local geological features and hiking in the Sandia Mountains. She has produced a book about walking in the Sandia foothills and another in the works about the geology of central NM. Shaping a lump of clay into a beautiful shape then firing it into rock with a beautiful glaze is one of Tamara’s favorite activities as she explores life, one piece at a time.
Her pottery is both thrown on a wheel and hand built. Decorative and nature inspired, Tamara also creates beautiful wall mosaics with pottery tiles that are made to order |
